UK Football teams play in different leagues depending on their abilities, with the top teams playing in the Premiership and the lower teams playing in lower divisions such as the Championship league. What makes the game so special in the UK is that smaller grass roots clubs can get the chance to play some of the bigger clubs in the F.A cup which is the oldest football competition in the world.

Here is a little guide to some of the UK’s leagues and cups.

Premier League

The premier league showcases the best of English football clubs, it is by far the most followed league with loyal supporters from around the world. With thousands of clubs across England the Premier league has only 20 clubs, they play 38 games per season with each club playing each other twice; one at home and one away. The bottom three teams at the end of the season are relegated to the lower division which makes the premier league competitive and fierce.

Championship League

This is the second highest tier football division in England, some people regard this division as true football due to the fact that the teams compete to top the leader board and hopefully get promoted to Premier league. It is the same as the Premier league with the top three clubs will move up a division and the bottom three clubs get relegated to a lesser league.

The F.A Cup

The F.A cup is the oldest competition in football and provides a great opportunity for the lesser league teams to compete with the bigger clubs in both the Championship league and the Premier league. This makes the FA cup one of the most exciting football competitions in the game of football.
