Re “the loneliness epidemic” (Letters, 5 February): apart from the ministrations of my wonderful wife (many years younger than me), I put my continued interest in life down to volunteering, writing (especially poetry), political and social activity, and entertaining (and being entertained by) friends – not to mention my lovely daughter, son-in-law and two gorgeous granddaughters.
