The economy created a net 211,000 jobs in April, more than double the prior month’s increase and the biggest gain since February. The economy has added an average 185,000 jobs a month in 2017, roughly matching last year’s pace.
UNEMPLOYMENT
4.4%
The unemployment rate fell a tenth of a percentage point in April to 4.4%. That’s the lowest level May 2007–when it was also 4.4%–several months before the recession began.
